Nashville Area Chamber announces 2008 Future 50 Award winners
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 5, 2008) – In an effort to promote entrepreneurial growth
within the Middle Tennessee area, the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased
to announce the winners of the 17th annual Future 50 Awards.
Considered to be the fastest-growing, privately owned companies in the region, this
year’s winners represent a broad range of business categories, including the retail,
wholesale trade and health care industries.
To be eligible, companies must be headquartered in Middle Tennessee, have at least 10
employees or annual revenues of at least $500,000 and anticipate revenue and
employment growth of 10 percent or more per year for the next three years. The
nominations are collected by the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce and tabulated by
KraftCPAs, the official accounting firm of the Future 50 Awards.
“This year’s competition was made especially difficult by the high number of
applications we received — as a matter of fact, the highest in almost four years,” said
Charles Sueing, president of The Sueing Agency, Nationwide Insurance & Financial
Services and chairman of the Chamber’s Small Business Council. “It goes to show the
strength of these companies, despite the challenges of a less-than-perfect economy.”
The Chamber would also like to congratulate Counsel on Call for their induction into the
Future 50 Hall of Fame after receiving their fifth Future 50 Award this year. The
Nashville-based company specializes in matching legal professionals with law firms and
corporate legal departments in which both parties are seeking a flexible environment.
As of December 2007, the Future 50 Award winners employed approximately 6,270
people and their annual revenues reached a combined total of $701 million (only 41
companies released their actual annual revenue), which is an increase from last year’s
reported $332 million. Of the 50 winners, 25 are winners for the first time, 20 are repeat
winners from 2007 and five have won the award in previous years.
An awards dinner honoring the 2008 Future 50 was held Thursday, Sept. 18, at the
Renaissance Nashville Hotel.
The 2008 Future 50 Awards are presented by the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce
and Bank of America. Additional sponsors include The Tennessean, KraftCPAs and Frost
Brown Todd.
The Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce is Middle Tennessee’s largest business
federation, representing 2,500 member companies. Belong, engage, lead, prosper
embodies what the Chamber focuses on for its members. Together with its affiliates, the
Nashville Chamber works to strengthen the region’s business climate and to enhance
Nashville’s position as a desirable place to live, work and visit. For more information,
