From Denise's Desk: Hit the Streets with Your Message

Taking your message to the streets is a terrific way to get the word out about your organization and there are several vehicles (pun intended) for making this happen with minimal financial investment.

In today's world, the one place where you can almost guarantee you'll get noticed is on the highways and bi-ways of your community. It's an in-your-face approach that can include everything from traditional billboards to the sides of buses, the headers on taxis, magnetic signs on the side of your organization's vehicles, pens, posters, bumper stickers, dashboard protectors and even graffiti on the side of (willing) business buildings.

One prime example of this in action is the personalized magnet that accompanied a special occasion card we recently developed for National Doctor's Day and National Social Work Month. We're currently working with an exciting new form of "cling paper" for temporary posters which can be hung for one to two months and then removed with no damage to the wall. This innovative solution is a great way to get your agency's name out there by simply stripping off the back and placing your poster in grocery stores, pharmacies, Doctor's offices, LTCs and ALFs and other locations that are happy to help you spread the word!

In the coming months, we'll be introducing other, similar products - all with the common objective of getting your name and brand in front of your target audiences. As we develop these products, we continue to search for "out-of-the-box" solutions to ensure that the impression you make will position your agency at the front of the pack.

As exciting as these products may be, the most important element will always be the message. Your logo is a great place to start but don't stop there. I recently saw a bus with a hospice logo and the tagline, "Proudly serving the community since...". That didn't tell me very much about the agency. What I need to know is what is hospice and what can it do for me (my friends, loved ones and community). There are any number of ways this can be done, but remember to keep the message short, clear and to the point. Eight words is a standard rule. When it comes to outdoor advertising where people are on the move - less is always more. And, pictures are truly worth a thousand words.

If you're currently gearing up for the festival and health fair season and are looking for that magic marketing tool that will get your agency noticed, give us a call (ask to speak to Joe Estok at 1-866-695-9707).
