Sales Tip of the Week: A is for Attitude

The very best salespeople have an attitude of calm, confident, positive self-expectation. They feel good about themselves and they have absolute faith that everything they are doing is contributing toward their inevitable success. They are cool, relaxed, happy and cheerful about their lives and their careers. They know, deep in their hearts, that they are good at what they do, and their referral sources know it as well. Often, their referral sources decide to refer to them even before they've made a sales presentation or described their service. They are the champions, or superstars, of selling everywhere, and you can be one of them by developing the same attitudes and attributes that they have.

In selling, your attitude is probably eighty percent of your success. Your attitude is the outward expression of everything that you are, and everything that you have become over the course of your lifetime. And it has the greatest single impact on the people that you deal with. The development of a positive mental attitude and self-concept is the indispensable requirement for great success in your field.

A foundation of a positive self-concept is self-esteem, and it will greatly affect your attitude. High self-esteem and self-acceptance are critical elements in sales success. The more you like and respect yourself, the better you perform at everything you do. Developing and maintaining high levels of self-esteem is one of the most important things you can do, every day, in building yourself up to the point where you are capable of achieving all your goals. And won't your attitude reflect that?
